Dear Parents and Guardians:

Greetings!!  Welcome all to another exciting year at Dolan Middle School.  This school year is proving to be filled with many new and positive initiatives in support of our students’ achievement, growth and development. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

CELL PHONES, IPODS (ANY MP3’S), VIDEO GAME DEVICES OR ANY OTHER ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT (UNLESS ISSUED BY SCHOOL PERSONNEL) ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE USED IN THE BUILDING, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, ALL STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED TO USE THE TELEPHONES IN THE DOLAN OFFICES.

THESE DEVICES ARE A MAJOR DISRUPTION TO THE LEARNING PROCESS AND ARE NOT APPROPRIATE DURING SCHOOL HOURS.

ADDITIONALLY, THESE ITEMS ARE COSTLY AND WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF LOST, STOLEN, OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT IN KEEPING DOLAN STUDENTS FOCUSED ON THEIR ACADEMIC PROGRAMMING.  OUR GOAL IS TO MAINTAIN A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

PLEASE REFER TO OUR STUDENT HANDBOOK FOR DETAILS REGARDING THIS SCHOOL POLICY, AS PARENTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFE AND TIMELY RETRIEVAL OF ANY CONFISCATED ITEMS.

In an effort to boost achievement throughout the school, we are providing you with a list of required materials in support of your child’s success:

·         a good-quality 3” binder and loose leaf paper (large one for all subjects)

·         colored divider tabs for each subject

·         a zip-pouch to store supplies

·         pens, pencils, and highlighters

·         3-hole punched folders with pockets

·         notebook dictionary and/or thesaurus

·         calculator

·         6 inch ruler

·         a notebook style 3-hole puncher for home or school useGood organization is crucial for student success, and that organization is easier with the proper materials.  Dolan’s school wide binder initiative aims to promote student potential to achieve at high levels with the support of uniform academic structure. 

While there are particular supplies that will work to support your child’s academic success, there are also some items that may work to distract, endanger, and deter the teaching and learning process.  Therefore, we would like to inform you some of the items that are not allowed at Dolan Middle School:

Æ       Cell Phones/IPODS/Video Games/other Electronic Equipment* (see reverse)

Æ       Correction Fluid/ “White-out”

Æ       Rubber bands

Æ       “Sharpie” Markers (or any other type of permanent markers)
